Lecturas para Grado de Estudios Ingleses (IV)

Este artículo es parte de una serie de entradas donde comparto un listado de las lecturas que he leído durante mis grado en Estudios ingleses en la UCM. Esta vez está centrado en el material de estudio para las asignaturas del cuarto y último año de carrera. Como siempre, recordad que las lecturas pueden cambiar en diferentes años y con diferentes profesores.

Espero que esta serie de artículos te haya despertado la curiosidad por la filología o que al menos te haya dado una mejor idea sobre qué estudiamos los filólogos durante nuestra formación.

Ficción modernista


El doctor Dámaso López nos mandó una lista básica de autores para comprender mejor la experimentación de este periodo. En clase leímos y estudiamos las siguientes obras, intentando relacionarlas entre sí:

  • The Secret Agent de Joseph Conrad.
  • Ulysses (capítulos 1, 3, 18) de James Joyce.
  • Tender is the Night de F. Scott Fitzgerald.
  • The Waves de Virginia Woolf.
  • The Sound and the Fury de William Faulkner.

Poesía modernista anglonorteamericana


El doctor Luis Javier Martínez Victorio nos propuso un breve repaso a la poesía y poética de los períodos romántico y victoriano para ayudarnos a comprender la innovación de la poesía modernista, por ello hemos estudiado una gran variedad de textos. En el listado de poesías encontramos:

La doctora Gitte Kristiansen nos mandó una selección de textos que complementaban a la teoría impartida en clase.

Poesía de Gran Bretaña hasta 1950 (optativa)


El doctor Félix Rodríguez Rodríguez nos ofreció un amplio panorama de este periodo histórico más reciente, con la dificultad que esto conlleva por la cercanía con los autores y la falta de perspectiva para poder estudiar su obra como sucede con los autores de siglos pasados.
